We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Middle School Science Coordinator to join our educational team in Tianjin, China. As a Science Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the science curriculum, supporting science teachers, and promoting the development of scientific knowledge and skills among middle school students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive and engaging middle school science curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational standards and objectives.
- Collaborate with science teachers to plan and deliver high-quality science lessons, providing guidance, resources, and support as needed.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of science instruction, observing classes and providing constructive feedback to teachers to improve teaching practices.
- Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in science education, incorporating new ideas, technologies, and resources into the curriculum.
- Coordinate and organize science-related activities, such as science fairs, field trips, guest speaker events, and hands-on experiments, to enhance students' understanding and interest in science.
- Foster a collaborative and professional learning community among science teachers, facilitating regular meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
- Support the selection and procurement of science materials, equipment, and resources, ensuring their availability and proper maintenance.
- Collaborate with school leadership and other coordinators to integrate science into interdisciplinary projects and promote a holistic approach to education.
- Assess student progress and achievement in science through appropriate evaluation methods, such as assessments, projects, and portfolios.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on students' science education, progress, and opportunities for enrichment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
- Previous experience teaching middle school science and holding a leadership or coordination role in science education.
- Strong knowledge of middle school science curriculum and understanding of pedagogical approaches in science instruction.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement a cohesive and engaging science curriculum that meets educational standards.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in science education, including inquiry-based learning and the integration of technology.
- Ability to provide instructional support, feedback, and mentoring to science teachers.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate and manage science-related activities, events, and resources.
- Proficiency in English is preferred, along with fluency in Mandarin Chinese.
- Valid teaching certification or license is required.
