We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Upper School Head of Chinese Teacher in Harbin City, China. As the Head of Chinese, you will lead and manage the Chinese language department in the upper school, overseeing curriculum development, instructional strategies, and student achievement. This position is typically in the education or international school industry.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Chinese language department in the upper school, providing vision, guidance, and support to teachers.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Chinese language curriculum that aligns with educational standards and school objectives.
- Design and deliver engaging and rigorous lessons that foster students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Chinese.
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and assess student progress, ensuring instructional strategies meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Mentor and provide professional development opportunities for Chinese language teachers, promoting continuous improvement and growth.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional practices, making adjustments as needed to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, resources, and research in Chinese language instruction, incorporating innovative approaches into teaching.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that values cultural diversity and promotes cross-cultural understanding.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on student progress, address concerns, and promote parental involvement.
- Collaborate with school administrators, fellow department heads, and colleagues to support the overall goals and mission of the school.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chinese language, Chinese education, or a related field. A teaching certification is preferred.
- Proven experience teaching Chinese language at the upper school level, with a track record of successful student outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese language curriculum, educational standards, and proficiency benchmarks.
- Familiarity with instructional best practices and differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teachers and students.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective curriculum and assessment strategies.
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to foster a multicultural learning environment.
- Fluency in both written and spoken Chinese is required.
- Proficiency in English is preferred for effective communication with non-Chinese speaking staff and parents.
